Dear Students of Fordham University,
Today is a solemn day. On Thursday, our community lost Nicholas Booker, a great student, friend, and Ram. Nicholas was a freshman who lived in Martyrs Court. While he may not have been at Fordham for all that long, he certainly left an indelible mark on his classmates, his residence hall, and the people that called him a friend.
The hearts and prayers of the entire student body are with Nick, his family, and friends. By all accounts, Nick was an active member of the community, both here at Fordham and at home in St. Louis. To be a Fordham Ram is not a role that lasts only the years one studies at Fordham. Being a Fordham Ram lasts an eternity. While Nick’s life was cut too short, his memory and legacy live on within all of his fellow Rams and Fordham University family.
As Father McShane wrote to the Fordham Community last night, both thoughts and gratitude must be extended to those who came to Nick’s aid: the IPED graduate students, FUEMS, the FDNY, Jesuit Community members, Student Affairs, Campus Ministry, and the St. Barnabas Hospital medical staff.
Words cannot express what those closest to Nick are going through, but the entire student body mourns with love. The United Student Government stands ready to support the community in any way we can. We call all members of the student body to join in solidarity of the celebration of Nick’s life next week at the University Church and show what it means to be an eternal Fordham Ram.
With warm thoughts and prayers,
United Student Government – Rose Hill
